Daphne Dunne, a superfan of Prince Harry from Australia has died on April 1, 2019, at 99-years old. Her family announced her death on Instagram.
Dunne and Prince Harry met in 2015 and became great friends. The media loved following their every move and reporting on their unique relationship.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Prince Harry, a veteran of the British Army and served ten years, met Dunne outside the Sydney Opera House, where she was standing in line. He was immediately drawn to her after he saw the medals which were pinned on her coat.
Dunne told Prince Harry that the medals came from Albert Chowne, her late husband, who was killed in World War II. Harry was told how she worked as a corporal during the war in the Australian Women’s Army Services.
After that eventful meeting, Dunne saw Prince Harry two more times, after she waited in line to greet him.
Prince Harry would always get to his knees crouching down beside her, and she would kiss him on his cheek and put her hand on the side of his face.
The precious encounters were covered onto multiple news outlets such as Commonwealth, The United States television show “Good Morning America,” and the Daily Mirror covered it on their front page.
After Dunne saw her picture on that publication, she wrote on her Instagram that it was too much excitement for her, and she needed to take a nap.
In 2017, Dunne waited for hours in the rain to offer Prince Harry a beer, which he declined. Later she said that she was still owed that beer from the royal.
In 2018, Prince Harry said her shoes were “cool” and her hair which she had dyed pink. He also introduced her to Meghan Markle during that meeting.
Markle told Dunne holding her hand that it was nice to meet her and as she left she said that she hoped the next time they met, they would have their baby with them.
In an interview with Nine New Sydney, Dunne said she did not think Prince Harry has changed much from the first time they have met. She said the royal was a natural and loved what he is doing. She said she was happy he has a wife.
