Sweed
Ron Sweed, who played “The Ghoul” the late-night horror host on Detroit television died on April 2, 2019, related to heart-related issues. He was 70-years-old.

Sweed was known for his lab coat, glasses, and catchphrases; The Ghoul gained cult icon status in Detroit during the 70s and 80s.

Originally from Cleveland where the show got its start, Sweed experienced his best success with Detroit viewers.

On Nov. 7, 2018, Sweed required triple-bypass surgery after having a heart attack.

Barbara King, the first wife of Sweed, posted on Facebook, She said that it was with a broken heart that she had to tell her friends and family, and all the fans of the Ghoul that Sweed died last night.

She thanked everybody for the thoughts and prayers she received after announcing Sweed’s heart attack.

Continuing, she said many told her of stories about watching Sweed and how important he was, and that meant so much to her.

She reminisced saying she met Sweet at 17 years old, and they married when she was 18 and were married for 14 years, and even though they divorced remained best friends.

She sent her love to his wife Mary Therese who stayed with him the entire time. She concluded by saying she lost her best friend and lost her life partner.
