On June 3, 2019, after much speculation, it was confirmed on the Today Show. Madonna will make an appearance at Pride Island in New York on June 30.
The press release said the Material Girl is planning to perform at the event.
In a prepared video aired on the Today Show, Madonna appeared on the beach draped in a rainbow flag. She said in the video, “I have heard all of you! I will be on Pride Island. It is the place I was born.”
On June 7, Madonna will release her fifth single “Dark Ballet” from her anticipated upcoming album “Madame X” set to be released on June 14 from Maverick, Interscope Records, and Live Nation.
Madonna has also teamed up with the Trevor Project. The material girl will donate all proceeds she receives from sales which accumulate during Pride month from her Madam X Pride Collection which consists of a limited-edition Rainbow Pride Vinyl, flag, and digital download to the LGBT organization.
Pride Island will also have performances by the legendary Grace Jones, Pabllo Vittar, and Teyana Taylor. Grace Jones is the headline act on June 29, and Madonna will perform on June 30. The headline performer has not been announced for the Sunday show.
Last year the headline acts on Pride Island were Kylie Minogue and Tove Lo.
Tickets for the event have been sold out since March.
