Sixty-three-year-old Billy Blanks, the Tae Bo expert spoke with The Blast on June 2, 2019, about new fitness projects he will be participating in.
During the interview, he admitted that fitness guru 70-year-old Richard Simmons was one of the people who motivated him to become the exercise expert he is.
Blanks told the publication that he believes Simmons, who has not been seen at a public appearance since 2014, will be making a comeback.
Blanks told the Blast that he is good friends with Simmons and mentioned how fun he was to travel with. In the past, they both participated in fitness tours together.
The Tae Bo master said Simmons became a recluse after all the time he has dedicated to other people, not taking time out to put himself first.
Blanks said, “When you do not see yourself, you can lose yourself.” He added that Simmons needed the time alone to get himself together. He believed that Simmons is ready for a comeback and thinks it will be soon.
USA TODAY contacted Tom Estey, the representative of Simmons who would not comment on the remarks made by Blanks.
