Gilgo Beach serial killer investigations over the suspect, Rex Heuermann, have recently expanded throughout the US. Police forces in Las Vegas and South Carolina have confirmed their involvement in the case. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has reviewed unsolved murder and missing persons cases around Sin City. This came about after they learned that the suspect in three murders committed in Long Island owns a time-share property in the area.

The department is reviewing their unsolved cases to determine any potential involvement of the suspect, Rex Heuermann. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina is also aiding New York officials in their search for evidence.

The suspect owns a property in Chester next to his brother Craig. At the center of the murder investigation, the New York officials seize his vehicle from his brother’s home last week. Heuermann, a 59-year-old father-of-two, is charged with the murders of three sex workers and is suspected of being the fourth victim. He vanished between 2007 and 2010. These women were known as the “Gilgo Beach Four.”

Following Heuermann’s shock arrest last week, tips and evidence have poured in, and he is now expected to be charged with a fourth murder. Officials are “confident” that Heuermann will soon be charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes. She was last seen alive in New York City in early June 2007.

Evidence Seized From Gilgo Beach Suspect’s Home

According to reports, investigators have been searching the home and storage locker of the Gilgo Beach suspect for five days but have not revealed much about what they have found.

However, some evidence seized from Heuermann’s home is quite disturbing. Here is what’s been reported so far:

  • During the search, investigators uncover a vault of over 200 guns in the basement of his home.
  • Playboy magazines were also found in his home.
  • A portrait of a woman with a fair complexion, dark circles under her eyes, and cuts on her cheek and lip was found in his home.
  • Some cat food and a cat tree scratching post were taken from his home, indicating that Heuermann owned a cat.
  • A childlike doll with blonde braided hair and a red outfit was found in a wooden display case with glass sides.
  • A cooler was removed from Heuermann’s home.

Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison called Heuermann “a monster” in a recent interview, during which he revealed that investigators were searching for trophies, including possible body parts or possessions of Heuermann’s alleged victims, in a storage locker in Amityville.

However, no information about the vault’s contents has been released.

Psychiatrist Accused Gilgo Beach Killer a ‘Sexual Sadist’

According to Dr. Carole Lieberman, a California forensic psychiatrist, there are indications that the Gilgo Beach serial killings suspect, could be a “sexual sadist.” She points to his compulsively searching for pictures of the victims and their relatives and his alleged interest in torture sites online.

Lieberman suggests that Heuermann’s actions indicate a need for sadistic satisfaction. Considering the emerging evidence, she also questions how Heuermann’s wife could have been unaware of his alleged double life.

Lieberman believes that his modus operandi suggests low self-esteem concerning his sexual prowess. By eliminating sex workers, he could avoid scrutiny of his behavior and maintain control. Regarding Heuermann’s wife, Lieberman suggests that she may be “in denial” about her husband’s potential involvement in criminal activities.

Lieberman points out that, given the evidence and Heuermann’s behavior, it is troubling that his wife has not expressed any suspicions about his actions. Additionally, information about Heuermann’s family has been revealed.

Gilgo Beach Killer Profile

He is married to Asa Ellerup, described as a quiet individual of Icelandic heritage. Heuermann’s first wife, Elizabeth Ryan, is separated from him and has lived in her current home for about 15 years.

The suspect has a 26-year-old daughter named Victoria, who appears she was part of his architecture company until recent events. He also has a special needs son, described as a friendly and quiet child by neighbors.

It is important to note that these are opinions and observations of Dr. Carole Lieberman, a forensic psychiatrist, and may not represent the whole picture or be conclusive in any way.

The legal proceedings and evidence presented in court will ultimately determine the truth.
