After postponing last year’s Las Vegas move due to “health challenges” and coping with the loss of her husband, Carl Dean, in May, Dolly Parton shares her health update.
On Friday, the country music legend kicked off the 2026 season of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge and opened up about her grief from the loss of her husband of nearly sixty years.
“I’ve been not touring, as you know. I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them,” she said during her keynote speech.
Additionally, Parton shared some insight as to the cause and contributions to her health issues.

“I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on. I just got myself kind of where I needed to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally, and physically.”
She added that now “all is good” and the issues “didn’t slow me down.”
Parton also explained she has been busy working on her upcoming Broadway show that will debut later this year, as well as music projects she has been working on, including her song “Light of a Clear Blue Morning.”
“I’ve just been doing a lot of writing, a lot of thinking, a lot of praying, and a lot of getting ready for a lot of new stuff coming up for the rest of this whole year. So, be ready for me. I ain’t done, I ain’t near done,” Parton said.
The country music legend also addressed rumors about her personal life.
“Well, I know there’s a lot of rumors going around, but I did not marry Sylvester Stallone. And I am not dating anybody. I’m not married. I don’t think I’ll ever be married but once. I think Carl Dean’s waiting for me on the other side,” she said.
Parton missed the Film Academy’s Governors Awards in November and did not attend her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry in January, in addition to cancelling other appearances.
