Poe Timothy Michael Poe or should I say, poor Timothy Poe has allegedly been lying about injuries sustained while serving in the armed forces. AP has reported along with TMZ that Timothy Poe, in a tearjerker audition for “America’s Got Talent,” fraudulently misrepresented his identity on two separate accounts. The stuttering contestant went on national television and told America that the reason he has a stuttering disability is because, while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, he was hit by a grenade explosion, which broke his back and damaged his brain.
AP discovered through contacts with Minnesota’s Army National Guard “that there were no official records showing Poe ever deployed to Iraq or was injured there.” A spokesman for the Guard, Lt. Col Kevin Olson said that “Poe reported to Camp Shelby in Mississippi for pre-mobilization training on Sept. 21, 2005 but ultimately did not deploy.”
Additionally, TMZ has learned that the photograph Poe used of himself in his application submitted to “America’s Got Talent” shows Staff Sgt. Norman Bone serving in Afghanistan in 2006.
These stories have emerged after Poe gave a magical performance and received a standing ovation in his appearance on the NBC show.
Poe has declined to comment on the photograph; however, his fiancée, Carrie Morris, says the photograph was mistakenly submitted.
If you watched Poe’s performance, you could not help but to be touched; the whole presentation seemed so genuine. That is why it looks as if something is not right, and I have a theory. Timothy Poe is either the greatest actor I have ever seen or he has a misdiagnosed illness. All you have to do is look at his performance and the interview that “America’s Got Talent” produced. The interview was flawless. The stuttering was real. The tears that emerged from Poe’s eyes were as real as any that I have seen. I believe that Poe may have a severe memory loss condition that is at the root of this unfortunate situation.
I’d be happy to know your thoughts.
