Guatemala: El Chapo Guzman dead?

Guatemala: "El Chapo" Guzman dead?According to social media networks, the rumor circulating, particularly on Twitter, that one of the most wanted drug traffickers by the U.S. and Mexican government, could be dead. Today the rumor began when an email leaked by Wikileaks, in which the fir Straffor, claims to have evidence to believe that El Chapo is hiding in the town of El Petén in Guatemala, near the border with Mexico. The information was published by the Guatemala newspaper Prensa Libre and then taken up by TV Azteca Guatemala.

Hours later, a clash registered on a site as Hamlet said Valentine, San Francisco, El Peten, Guatemala international alarms sounded, the one confirmed four dead, two of them aboard a luxury armored truck in which lies the corpse of a person with a physical resemblance to El Chapo Guzman. So for now, this information cannot be taken for granted that the drug dealer concerned,El Chapo Guzman, until forensic tests are conducted on the body.

“At the moment we have is the confirmation of an armed confrontation. There are facilities in the area, we are seeing all the documentation, we are seeing photographs (…) meanwhile will be information that can not hundred percent sure, but we have as first information field is that it could be him, “said Lopez, when asked by the United Stations Radio if it could be the ‘Chapo’ Guzman.

Confirming the shooting, Mauricio Lopez Bonilla, Guatemala’s Interior Minister, did not rule out that one of the dead is Joaquin Guzman Loera, but dared not confirm this information, “We can not say, but it could be him,” said Secretary of Government of that country to confirm that there are research units working crime scene.

El Chapo Guzmán was captured in Guatemala in 2001, but escaped the prison of “maximum security” Puente Grande, hidden in a shopping laundry two years later. In recent days, the U.S. government called him a criminal “more dangerous than Al Capone,” which gives him a place among the most wanted men, well, arguably the most authorities require from both countries.

The Chapo Guzman Loera, leader of the powerful Sinaloa cartel, drug is the main objective of the government of Mexico, said on February 15 last official Mexican sources.

The world’s most powerful drug trafficker, Mexican billionaire Joaquin El Chapo Guzman Loera, was designated by The Chicago Crime Commission and the DEA as Chicago’s Public Enemy #1, a title held by Al Capone at the height of Prohibition in the 1930s. In making the announcement on Valentines’ Day, Art Bilek, the commission’s executive vice president, said that “What Al Capone was to beer and whiskey, Guzman is to narcotics.” Guzman deserved the designation for the “viciousness, the evil and the power of this man.”

Guzman is accused of trafficking 1,500 to 2,000 kilograms of cocaine through Chicago each month. The Northern District of Illinois is seeking the forfeiture of more than $1.8 billion in cash proceeds through its indictment against him.

“If I was to put those two guys in a ring, El Chapo would eat that guy (Capone) alive,” Bilek said, according to the AP.

With the death of terrorist Osama Bin Laden in 2011, Guzman became the most wanted man in the world. It is estimated that El Chapo controls at least 60,000 square km (23,000 square miles) of rugged mountains in Sinaloa and Durango.
