Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes are being sued by one of their former housekeepers, who is accusing them of both allowing her to be subject to verbal harassment and to be fired just because of her birthright. The documents were filed in the mid-afternoon of September 29, 2014.
The lawsuit details Gloria Cevallos’ claims that her problems in the household began when two fellow female employees began to stir up trouble with her, calling her profane names and mocking the country in which she was born. She says the female employees referred to her in Spanish as a fat old lady and an old Salvadorean b***h. She goes on to claim that Cibrian’s mom then began complaining about the various problems with the house and the things that weren’t done to her satisfaction, demanding that her son fire someone in regards to her dissatisfaction. Cevallos says she was subsequently shown the door, without being given any legitimate reason as to why her employment was being terminated. The woman is not only suing for back pay, but also for what is referred to as front pay: she wants Rimes and Cibrian to continue to provide her with a steady income until she locates a new form of employment.
The couple has certainly been receiving their fair share of media attention in the past year. Their reality show, LeAnn & Eddie, made its VH1 debut this summer, and took no time at all to grab viewer’s attention with the increasingly high level of drama that many have compared to that of Lifetime’s True Tori, which centers around Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott’s broken marriage following a cheating scandal. Leann & Eddie focuses on the pair’s trials and tribulations as a high-profile couple that broke onto the scene in a big way, both of them having been married when their affair began. Much of the drama centers on Cibrian’s tumultuous relationship with the mother of his children, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville, who still appears to harbor a grudge against the actor for the way in which she feels she was deceived and publicly humiliated.
Rimes herself has been putting on what many feel is an overly desperate show to convince viewers that the three are all one big happy family, and that she gets along with her husband’s children extremely well. Just last week, the singer raised some eyebrows when she posted several tweets informing her followers that she was now taking up Pilates at the studio in which Glanville spends a majority of her time. Glanville took to Twitter to post a response to Rimes’ updates, in which she assured her that her attention had been grabbed and used a hashtag to express her view that Rimes was becoming something of a stalker. Rumors have also begun to circulate that the How Do I Live Without You chart-topper has taken to photoshopping herself into family pictures containing her husband and his sons, after she posted a picture to social media in which her person did not entirely seem to fit with the image containing the other three, with the singer having no shadow and her presence standing out in a blocky manner to the three males.
It remains to be seen what will become of the recent lawsuit against Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes for allegedly allowing their former housekeeper to be verbally harassed and fired for racist reasons. No statement has yet been given by either the couple or their representatives.
