Modern Family star Sarah Hyland has reportedly been leaning on her co-stars for support following her legal troubles with ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop, from whom she secured a restraining order earlier this week. The 23-year-old has taken to social media in the past few days to gush about her television family and how much they mean to her in these trying times.
The actress has posted several tweets and Instagram messages encouraging fans to watch the show’s season six premiere, which aired on September 24th. She has also shared many pictures of the ABC sitcom’s cast, who she says mean more than life to her. Hyland goes on to express the feeling that she loves all of them with all her heart, and that she has enjoyed every minute of their company in the past six years. She praises the cast for making the experience memorable, and says she will always remember it.
The Modern Family cast has proven that they will not just be there for the New York native on-screen and on the set of the show’s filming. Julie Bowen, who plays Hyland’s TV mother, recently came to the actress’ aid after a potentially dangerous meeting with Prokop that was set up in order for the actress to officially break things off with her Geek Charming co-star. Bowen came to the actress’ house for moral and physical support, following an incident in which Hyland claims Prokop became angered after seeing her outfit and pinned her against a car, during which time she was unable to speak or breathe and after which she suffered a severe sore throat. When Prokop arrived at the house, the situation reportedly escalated upon his realization that Bowen and others were in his girlfriend’s company. The actor allegedly ran to the backyard screaming, upon which time he thew a lighter at Hyland and threatened the safety of both her home and her dog. The actress said she had been advise to file a restraining order upon the advice of Prokop’s rehab facility director, who warned her that the man was still mentally unstable and held a substantial grudge against her. The judge in question complied with her wishes and granted her a Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order against Prokop, ordering him to stay at least 100 yards away from both the actress and her dog.
The premiere episode of Modern Family‘s newest season drew in 11.38 million viewers, and upgraded to a 3.9 rating in terms of its 18-49 age demographic. The series, which began in 2009, has been an outstanding success in terms of being a Primetime sitcom. It was the first ABC sitcom to even be nominated for an Emmy since the 1970’s family favorite The Brady Bunch, which aired from 1969-1974. Modern Family has won an abundance of awards; including but not limited to a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series (three years in a row), a 2012 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series (Musical or Comedy), and two TCA awards for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.
It remains to be seen whether or not Sarah Hyland will continue to need her co-stars support in terms of her recent troubles with ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop. Regardless of whether or not she leans on them for personal issues, however, the actress has made it clear that her television family has essentially become as close to her as a real family throughout the years.
