The Associated Press (AP) reported that on April 23, 2016, at about 7:05 p.m. EDT, that the body of singer-songwriter Prince was cremated. The news was released in a statement from the publicist for the late artist.
Prince, whose entire name was Prince Rogers Nelson, was found dead on April 21, 2016, in his large Minnesota complex. After the police investigation and autopsy, it was ruled that there was no apparent foul play involved in his death. The blood work and toxicology results that will complete the autopsy are still pending.
The AP also reported that a celebration of his life had also been held. The particulars were not provided through the publicist. Numerous public celebrations of his life, given by fans and other artists, have been ongoing since his death.
The AP also followed with a report that, for his upcoming Prince, Piano, and a Microphone tour, a custom-made piano had been made by Yamaha. The piano was a specially designed acoustic piano, according to Chris Gero of Yamaha Entertainment in Franklin, Tennessee. The piano was a custom purple color made to match a couch in the late artist’s home.
