Carrie Underwood advises Miley Cyrus to enjoy her engagement and supports gay marriage

By Amanda Shore

Carrie Underwood, who has a song and a CD at the top of Billboard‘s charts, advised Miley Cyrus to “just take it easy.” She also said, “If you can be engaged for a while, I’m sure that’s really nice. Plan everything slow, and take your first couple of years just to really hang out together and enjoy it.”

Cyrus recently became engaged to Liam Hemsworth. She told People Magazine, “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.”

Underwood also spoke out in support of gay marriage. She is reported to be traditionally conservative, but she is supportive of equality and happiness for all. “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love and want to marry. … I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love,” she told The Independent.

She stated that her support of gay marriage and equality stems from her faith. “Above all, God wanted us to love others. It’s not about setting rules or ‘everyone has to be like me.’ No. We’re all different. That’s what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody.”

Underwood continues to be happy with her husband of two years, Mike Fisher. They still aren’t planning on having any children yet.

I applaud her for applying the Golden Rule–love thy neighbor as thyself. Many Christians don’t read their Bibles. If they did, they would understand that long time ago, isn’t today. There are many Christian gay people that are living monogamous lives with the person they love. We have churches that have provided much love and support for gays who want to love and serve God which is our prime purpose. Jesus died for all of us. Jesus also said, in Matthew 16:18-19 “Whatever, you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Whatever, you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” He knew that science and research would one day explain that gays who cannot change have the opposite spirit in their bodies. They are the opposite sex in varying degrees. So, how can they have a union with the opposite sex. Many can’t. Bisexuals have a choice. The true homosexual doesn’t. It’s a very personal God issue. It should never be civil or political. It’s a matter of time before, this ridiculous discrimination will end. Jesus loves all of us. That’s why he died, and bore all our sins on the cross. No one should take anyone’s right to love God away, for you force them into the arms of the devil. A huge sin for those who do. Instead invite them to your churches, so “they will know that you are Christians by your love. They will know we are Christians by our love.” Sound familiar?

Carrie Underwood is one gutsy woman to support gay marriage and to do so in such a clear and consise way. I think she is really amazing to do this and I admire her for it. Carrie, there are those of us who appreciate it when someone with such fame and following, someone with such clout in their industry and field are willing to put it all on the line in a truthful and authentic way. This is what Jesus was trying to get through to people…love, don’t judge others, and follow the golden rule. Carrie Underwood, you just became a hero to many. Thank you~~
