Jacksonville, Okla. Jaguars’ first round draft pick wide receiver Justin Blackmon was arrested Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Stillwater shortly after 3 a.m. and charged with aggravated DUI. Kelly Hines, reporting for Tulsa World, wrote that “a Stillwater police officer attempted to pull over a white Chevy Tahoe for going 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving left of center….The vehicle failed to yield for four blocks before stopping at a gas-station parking lot near the intersection of McElroy and Perkins roads.”
The former Oklahoma State standout player agreed to take a breathalyzer after the officer discovered the smell of alcohol emanating from Blackmon. The test revealed that Blackmon had consumed three times the legal limit of .08.
Blackman was the fifth overall pick in this year’s NFL draft.
Jaguars spokesman had no comment when asked by the Huffington Post, and Payne County Sheriff Sgt. Brandon Ingham revealed that jail records did not list an attorney for the rookie.
Kelly Hines’ article in tulsaworld.com provides a chronological look into several alcohol-related problems Blackman has had during his years as an Oklahoma College football player.
Blackmon was booked at 10 a.m. and released at 12:45 p.m. on a $1,000 bond. He is due in court on Monday.
Jacksonville Jaguars have their hands full if this thing turns out to be a pattern of behavior of the rookie, Blackmon.
