Tomorrow: Mothers to react to Senator Dean Heller vote against funding for amber alert system in public broadcasting

Reno, NV —Tomorrow, at 1:30 pm PT at Washoe County Democratic Party Headquarters, Washoe County mothers will express outrage over Sen. Dean Heller’s 2011 vote against funding for AMBER Alerts in public broadcasting, the emergency broadcast system that notifies the public of abducted children in surrounding areas.

The Amber Alert system has been hugely successful.  In 2011, 158 AMBER Alerts were issued in the United States involving 197 children. Of those 158 cases, 144 resulted in a recovery, 28 of which were successfully recovered as a direct result of those respective AMBER Alerts being issued.

While Sen. Heller refused to support AMBER Alert funding in public broadcasting, he continues to support taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil companies making record profits and tax breaks for corporations that ship Nevada jobs overseas.
