Why are you eating that.

We’ve been told too many times lately, that buying store processed food is cheaper than processing your own food at home. This is a lie. And I can prove this if allowed to write another article on it. I’m not much of a writer,but I have a lot to say on this subject.

I’m a 57 yr. old woman, that grew up on food processed at home. We didn’t put Benzates, MSG.,Nitrates, Yeast extracts , etc. I think you get the picture here.

While growing up in the 50’s and 60’s, you didn’t see all the overweight people you see today. Or the diabetes, kids with autism, ADHD, like you have going on today.

I truly believe we are causing these things to happen by what we eat, more than any other environmental problems we have going on out there.

I don’t think there is any excuse to feed our children store processed food everyday. To me it’s either ignorance,laziness,not enough time to cook, or many other excuses we can find. It doesn’t have to be any of those excuses.

My articles with every publication will deal with one thing you can do to get away from this abnormal and harmful way of eating. And it won’t be telling you not to buy anything store processed either. Instead , will show you how to stay away from the most dangerous of these foods to quit putting them in your body on a daily basis.

What people do so often, is go to one extreme or another when it comes to their diet.It doesn’t have to be that way. And it can be cheaper on your budget, if your willing to take the time to do them. Are you willing to take one day of the week to prepare healthy foods for you and your children. Is this really too much time to take to become healthier.

Two years ago I was 200 lbs. I was eating fast food, and store prepared food almost everyday.

Feeling sluggish and depressed, because of my weight gain. My arthritis was in full bloom and it just had to stop for me. I knew what I was doing to my body. You can’t lie to yourself without your conscience needling you. I decided I wasn’t going to ever go on a diet. ¬†And I didn’t. In one year I lost 50 lbs. by eating whatever I wanted to, as long as I made it myself. Plus, I taught myself to stop eating as soon as I wasn’t hungry, instead of until I was full. For me that was actually the easiest part. The hardest part was the addiction to fast food and store processed food. It’s an addiction that’s real, because we get used to the flavors the additives give us. We go back for more, because the homemade foods don’t have them in them.

Take ranch dressing you buy at the store ,or get in a restaurant. Now try getting that same wonderful flavor at home by making it yourself. You won’t get that same flavor because it’s the MSG. that gives it that distinct taste. MSG enhances flavor. That’s one of the reasons they use it. But I can tell you for real, once you start making your own without it, after awhile the ranch you get in a restaurant starts tasting funny to you. And it will be that way with lots of other foods you make yourself. When I eat at a fast food restaurant now, it just isn’t enjoyable anymore. I taste the additives that aren’t good for your body. You don’t taste them now, but you will if you follow my column on how to right the wrong in your meals.

All my suggestions and recipes are from my own experiments. I’ve been cooking since I was 7 years old, and being the youngest of 15 children in my family, you had to get creative with what you had.
