Canadian Terrorist Plot Foiled
Canadian Police and intelligence have thwarted a planned terrorist attack on a VIA passenger train.
The two accused are Chiheb Esseghaier and Raed Jaser. They have been charged with conspiracy to carry out a terrorist attack and “conspiring to murder persons unknown for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group.”
Sources say the two men have been under surveillance for more than a year in Quebec and Southern Ontario.
Assisting the RCMP, were the FBI and the United States Department of Homeland Security.
There is no apparent tie to the bombings in Boston a week ago, but the men are associated with radical groups who are unnamed as of now.
Authorities claim the attacks would have been devastating if they had been carried out.
