Free agent running back Ahmad Bradshaw has signed with the Indianapolis Colts according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The news comes to us following the two parties being in “heavy negotiations” over the past few days. The former New York Giant has finally found a new home on the eve of training camp.
The former Giant Bradshaw has reportedly agreed to a one year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. It isn’t often that 1,000+ yard rushers linger this long on the open market, but given the extensive injury history that Bradshaw has fought through over his career, it really isn’t a surprise that teams were skeptical to extend an offer to the 7th year man.
At just 28 years old, Bradshaw still should have a lot of gas left in his tank and could greatly help a Colts offense that burst onto the scene last year. With the Giants he was able to put up 1,015 yards and 6 touchdowns while playing in just fourteen games last season.
Indianapolis has a dynamic passing game already in place led by the second year phenom Andrew Luck. Veteran Reggie Wayne looks ageless every time he steps onto the field, remaining one of the top receivers in the game. TY Hilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey are two explosive talents sure to stretch the field.
If Bradshaw can produce at the level he did in 2010 when he was able to put up over 1,200 yards on the ground for the Giants, he should quickly help his new team join the elite ranks of NFL offenses.
