Anchorman 2 is one step closer to reality thanks to the recently released trailer for the cult classic.

Ron Burgundy is going to be returning to the big screen, the Anchorman 2 trailer has been released. Our favorite mustached news anchor, played by Will Ferrel, along with his beloved co-anchors will leave the 70s behind and embrace the 80s in this long awaited sequel.

Returning for another round, Will Ferrel explains as Ron Burgundy that “I’m gonna do the thing that God put Ron Burgundy on this earth to do: have salon-quality hair and read the news.”

The trailer below is guaranteed to have the same effect of a bottle of Sex Panther Cologne. That is, “60 percent of the time, it works every time.” Although that may not make sense, at least in the recently released trailer Anchorman 2 looks certain to deliver.

A narrator begins the Anchorman 2 trailer by describing the absence our beloved news team has had since leaving San Diego in 2004, “They rose like the phoenix, and then they were gone, their legend became like a whisper told by the trees … until now.”

Disappearing from 2004 until the release of this trailer, the Anchorman team has long been rumored to make a second appearance. Moving across the country to join a 24 hour news network in New York City, Ron Burgundy and company cross the country in order to spread the news they so beautifully told us all almost a decade ago.

Taking place in the 80s, the trailer features many comical scenes such as Brian Fantana in an underwear commercial, as well as a potentially offensive scene with Ron Burgundy attempting to assimilate with an African American family. That scene is certain to be “worse than the time the raccoon got in the copy machine” but it is scenes like that that made the original a cult classic. Apparently he finally learned that diversity is not just “an old, old, wooden ship” this time around.

If you loved the first Anchorman, watch the trailer below and let your excitement grow for the sequel scheduled to arrive in theaters this December.
