Let the party begin! Friday, June 21, marks the first day of the three-day Electric Daisy Carnival in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, and it’s time to party down, America!
The Las Vegas Motor Speedway, located on the outskirts of Las Vegas, has undergone a unique transformation as the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) comes to town again. Insomniac has transformed this unique location into a whimsical festival environment complete with six areas of music, carnival rides, vendor village, interactive art installations and an array of other festival attractions. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1,000-acre complex which hosts a wide variety of events.
Festivities have been going on all week long, with pulsating electronic music and raves filling the nightclubs of Las Vegas day and night. Yes, I said “day” because at the Marquee Day CLub, which has daytime hours, world-renowned electronic music acts have been playing there the entire week.
Got your supply of glow sticks ready? Good, because you’re gonna need them if you plan to hit the clubs tonight!
Tiesta will be @ the Hakkasan, from 10:30 p.m.-4:00 a.m.; Carl Cox will be @ Lavo from 10:00 p.m.-????.; Alesso will be @Light Night Club from 10:00-530 a.m.; Benny Benassi will be performing @ Marquue Night Club 10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.; Porter Robinson will be @ Surrender Night Club 10:30 p.m.-4:00 a.m.; Fatboy Slim & Gareth Emery @ Tao; Wolfgang Gartmer @ Tryst Night Club; these are just a few of the electronic music acts that you have to choose form tonight, Las Vegas!
The Las Vegas Speedway will host many events, as well, like interactive art installations, carnival rides, and the musical act Basscon, who will perform from 7:00 p.m.-5:30 a.m.
The Electronic Daisy Carnival is expecting up to 350,000 attendees this weekend. If you are going to be one of the people who attend, you will become a part of the entertainment, according to the EDC website:
“The magic of EDC is ignited by the good vibes and energy you bring! EDC is all about the memories we create together as we gather our community of 345,000 headliners (YOU) from all corners of the world for a beautiful journey together beneath the electric sky.”
Also, there will be costumed performance artists making their ways through the crowd, and engaging people with their activities and performances, both onstage and off.
The EDC family is made up of more than 500 theatrical performers, decked out in cutting-edge costumes, makeup and props crafted specifically for Insomniac. Truly living, breathing, walking, dancing art pieces, EDC’s performers push the boundaries of imagination while dangling from the sky, spinning on stage or joining you for an impromptu dance party in the crowd.
There will be nightly major fireworks displays followed by Red Bull skydivers lit up and falling out of the sky, and other spectacular displays for the crowds to take in.
Even if you can’t make it to Las Vegas this year, I will post photos and videos periodically this weekend to give you an idea of what the entire EDC experience is about!
Also, you can live the experience vicariously if you have Sirius Radio by tuning in to channel 52. EDC Radio goes on air tonight! SiriusXM channel 52 is your source for live beats from EDC Las Vegas 2013. Tune in now through June 24 for exclusive coverage.
