A Senior U.S. official has confirm that charges have been filed against Edward Snowden for leaking classified information to an unauthorized person, theft and espionage.
A statement in the Washington Post says that U.S. authorities have also asked Hong Kong to arrest him.
According to sources the report was filed on June 14 and was filed in the Eastern District of Virginia.
According to the Justice Department he was charged on three counts: theft of government property, unauthorized communication of national defense information and willful communication of intelligence information to an unauthorized person.
Snowden’s leaks have caused a lot of unrest regarding privacy and the U.S. government’s snoopy program, PRISM.
