Nigella Lawson has revealed one disharmony of her marriage to millionaire Charles Saatchi was the fact that he is not a fan of her celebrated cooking show. Fans of Nigella Lawson have resorted to angry Twitter messages condemning Charles Saatchi of purportedly choking his wife outside of an English café.
Pictures of the choking incident were published by The Daily Mirror newspaper organization, which have validated its authenticity. It is reported the pictures were taken during an argument at a restaurant in London on June 9th.
In the pictures a teary eyed Lawson can be seen reacting in horror as her husband wraps his hand around her neck at a public establishment. She visibly displayed a sign of choking in the pictures produced by The Daily Mirror publications.
“There was no grip, it was a playful tiff,” Saatchi said to news sources. “Nigella’s tears were because we both hate arguing, not because she had been hurt.” Diners at the restaurant said they witnessed a violent counter as opposed to Saatchi’s plea that it was gleeful jest.
Witnesses reported that Nigella Lawson appeared afraid during the entire ordeal. “It was utterly shocking to watch,” one onlooker said to the Mirror in an interview. It was also noted the two departed the eatery separately.
Saatchi is co-founder of ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi, he is also owner of no of London’s biggest private art galleries. His wife Nigella Lawson is one of Britain’s best-known cookbook writers; she hosts the cooking show Nigella Bites. It is known that Saatchi is no fan of his wife’s cooking demonstrations.
The local police has stated that their office has not received any criminal complaints about the matter. London authorities are conducting inquires as to the facts and will start investigations into the validity of any assertions.
Britain laws state that a complaint from the victim is not necessary to lay assault charges if there is enough evidence from witnesses. Lawson’s Rep, Mark Hutchison, had no comments for reporters concerning the incident.
Continued efforts to reach Saatchi’s spokesman for comments have gone without success.
Longtime friends, Saatchi and Lawson have been married for 10 years. After the death of Journalist John Diamond, Lawson’s first husband, the two were married. Saatchi reputedly have apologized to his wife about the incident upon the publishing of the photos by the Daily Mirror.
It has been speculated that Millionaire Charles Saatchi has marital envy issues with his well-known celebrity chef of a wife. In previous interviews done with media the issue has surfaced about his apprehensions concerning his wife’s notoriety which may be a source for disharmony between the two.
