T-Mobile and MetroPCS Devise Ways to Get and Keep Customers

Keep Customers

With cell phone companies now offering no monthly contracts and being able to provide 4G coverage one cell phone company is going to try something new. Normally, with a no contract program, to get a phone is to pay in full or put a down payment and pay monthly. T-Mobile looks to do away with down payment to try to entice new customers. With this news from T-Mobile to capture new customers MetroPCS (a T-Mobile company) is adding phones to their lineup. These will include the new Nokia, and LG phones.

T-Mobile is kicking off another unique plan Saturday (July 27) by allowing customers to pick up new smartphones without putting any money down. The Seattle-based carrier will allow well-qualified customers to buy any of its smartphones without making a down payment as part of a summer promotion. The trade-off, though, is that users will have to pay higher monthly fees.

Under this promotion, monthly payments for the iPhone 5 will be $27, while payments for the Galaxy S 4 and HTC One will be $25. With a down payment, the iPhone 5’s monthly cost is $21 and the GS4 and HTC One’s monthly payments are $20. The promotion is available for a limited time. T-Mobile did not say when it expires. The no-money-down promotion is the second unique plan by T-Mobile this month. Earlier in July, the company also announced a plan called Jump that lets users upgrade their phones twice a year.

In conjunction with the expansion of its MetroPCS brand into 15 new markets, T-Mobile US, Inc. is introducing two new smartphones to the brand’s 4G portfolio: the LG Optimus F3 and the Nokia Lumia 521. These devices can be paired with MetroPCS’ affordable 4G service plans, featuring unlimited data, talk and text – taxes and regulatory fees included – starting at just ‘$40, period’ and all on a nationwide 4G network.

The Nokia Lumia 521 and LG Optimus F3 join MetroPCS’ lineup of recently launched HSPA+ and LTE smartphones — delivering all the speed wireless consumers need for a great mobile experience.

As the first Windows Phone 8 product in the MetroPCS lineup, the Lumia 521 is another way the company is delivering what consumers demand, more choice, and at a great price for just $99 (plus taxes and fees). Powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, the Lumia 521’s Live Tiles give users a customizable home screen that quickly delivers the most up-to-date information that they care about most, all displayed on a super-sensitive 4-inch display. The smartphone’s 5MP camera packs a number of great features like 720p video capture, Nokia digital lenses, Smart Shoot to create the perfect group shot, and Cinemagraph to add motion to pictures. The Lumia 521 is available July 26 in select markets.

Joining the successful Optimus line of phones at MetroPCS is the Optimus F3, MetroPCS’ first Optimus product to feature 4G LTE for a blazing-fast data experience. Running Android 4.1, the Optimus F3 is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It also features a beautiful 4-inch IPS display, providing a genuine viewing experience with true-to-nature color, life-like images, and superior readability. The fast-shutter 5MP camera not only takes amazing pictures, but also records video in full 1080p HD. At $149.00, the Optimus F3 is a great choice for consumers who want a sleek and powerful 4G smartphone. The Optimus F3 is available today (July 26) in select markets and online, with additional markets launching in the coming weeks.
