According to the Associated Press, Israeli armed forces claim to have shot and killed a male Palestinian, allegedly responsible for orchestrating a bus bombing in Tel Aviv last year.
The Israel Security Agency (ISA), or Shin Bet, an organization involved in safeguarding state security from acts of terrorism, attempted to detain the individual close to Bil’in, some 12 miles west of Ramallah in the center of the West Bank.
The incident, which took place on Tuesday, saw the suspect flee from Israeli security teams. The male sought refuge in a nearby cave, from which he later began firing. Israeli forces returned fire, mortally wounding the suspected terrorist. Meanwhile, two suspected accomplices were reportedly detained during the standoff.
The Shin Bet has identified the man as Mohamed Aatzi, the Jihadist militant believed to be responsible for a bus bombing, launched during an Israeli-led military imitative on the Gaza strip last year. The blast injured a number of innocent Israeli passengers.
The latest shooting has sparked intense clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinians.
