Miss Universe 2013 Judge for Yourself

During the 62nd Annual Miss Universe Pageant this Saturday at 9:00 p.m. ET, you, the fans, will  have the opportunity to rate the women taking part in the pageant in real time, on a scale of 1 to 10, in the Evening Gown Competition, the Swimsuit Competition, and the Final Question. Yes, that’s right — you get to be the Monday Night quarterback, the Big Kahuna, the…Judge in the new interactive application which is sponsored by High 5 Games, called You Be The Judge.

Not only that, after you have your scores locked in, you can then compare them to the scores of other fans. Also, you will then get an exclusive look at the final scores of the judges, and you can have your opinions on various polling questions scroll on the screen throughout the pageant.  Here’s the catch: your votes are only for entertainment purposes, and they will not affect the actual outcome of the pageant. Apparently, “rating” the contestants isn’t, sadly, the same as actually voting for them.  Bummer, am I right? But, the application still sounds like it might be kind of fun.

Who will be the actual judges of the 62nd Annual Miss Universe Pageant?

There will be a total of eight judges in the panel which will decide who they consider to be the most beautiful woman in the universe (not just the “world,” mind you — that would be daunting enough — but the actual entire universe).

The 62nd Annual Miss Universe Pageant will take place in beautiful (though possibly quite snowy) Moscow, Russia, at the Crocus City Hall. The eight judges, Chef Nobu, Steven Tyler, Carol Alt, Tara Lipinski, Philip Kirkorov, Anne V, Italo Fontana, and Farouk Shami, will judge extraordinarily beautiful young women from 86 countries. The categories the women will compete in are evening gown, swimsuit, and interview.  Miss Universe 2013

Before the pageant begins, all of you fans will also be given the chance to vote (of course, it’s just for fun, though the winner will move on to the semifinal round) for your favorite competitors through what’s called the Miss Universe Fan Vote. This is different from the You Be the Judge application, but it is also sponsored by High 5 Games. You can start voting NOW by simply going to the site MissUniverse.com or Telemundo.com listed in the sources below.

Steven Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, will also take the stage and perform, besides acting as one of the eight judges. International recording artist EMIN and Panic! At The Disco will also perform.

In case you were wondering who the other seven judges are, Chef Nobu is the famous chef and owner of the Matsuhisa and Nobu restaurants. Tara Lipinsk won the Gold medal in Figure Skating and she will be the 2014 Skating analyst for NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics.

Carol Alt is a TV personality and the star of “A Healthy You and Carol Alt” on the Fox News Channel. She’s also an actress, supermodel, author, entrepreneur, and someone who is into eating raw food (vegetables and fruit).

Anne V is another supermodel, as well as being an actress, and a philanthropist. She will be a mentor on the next season of The Face on the Oxygen network.  She has graced nine Sports Illustrated annual issues in a row of the special swimsuit edition.

Farouk Shami is the founder of Farouk Systems, Inc. They make CHI and they are the presenting hair care sponsor of the pageant this year. Italo Fontana is the designer of U-Boat Watches, and Philip Kirkorov is a popular Russian pop star.

The co-hosts of the 62nd Annual Miss Universe Pageant will be Mel B of America’s Got Talent and Thomas Roberts  of MSNBC Live.  The commentator  for this year’s pageant is going to be Jeannie Mai, who does fashion segments for Today (NBC). Tune in to watch it, maybe vote for your favorite contestant beforehand, do a bit of judging using the You Be The Judge application; and, please check back at this site afterward, and read my review of the night’s show.
