Wonder Woman Added to New Superman Movie

Wonder WomanWonder Woman is going to join Batman in the new Superman movie. Gal Gadot will get to play the iconic role, but it comes with criticism. Many DC Comic fans took to Twitter to express their preference for a movie specifically about the female superhero, instead of adding her into an already promising action-packed one.

It seems that DC Comics is going the way of Marvel, by adding multiple heroes into one movie. The difference is, Marvel did it by setting up the mini-franchises first. Ironman, Thor, Captain American, and Hulk, all gained their own movies, most of them with a snippet that they would join the Avengers team at the end.

While Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. have already done a new Superman and three Batman movies, there has been nothing for Wonder Woman on her own. Could it possibly be due to her being female?

There are also questions about whether more of the Justice League will get together for a full franchise. The Green Lantern already had his own movie two years ago, although that was a flop and never gained the sequel hoped for. It may be possible that Wonder Woman is not getting her own role due to the Green Lantern flop in 2011. The movie bosses will not want fans rejecting the actress just before the big Superman movie.

Whatever the reasons behind this new addition, Wonder Woman will join Batman as the additions in the new Superman movie. The announcement was made Wednesday, with Gadot to play the role. Gadot is famous for being in the Fast and the Furious movie franchise, as well as being Miss Israel in the 2004 Miss Universe competition.

Fans of the female superhero not only took to Twitter to complain about the lack of initial movie. They decided to complain about the actress chosen for the role. It has nothing to do with her acting skills, but the fact that she is too skinny for the iconic role. Of course, this has led to the debate over criticizing women for their size.

Most actresses in Hollywood are criticized for being too big, but this time it is happening the other way around. Wonder Woman was always drawn with curves and a fuller figure. Despite this, The Representation Project CEO and founder, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, stated that people spend too much time judging women for the way they look. There should be more focus on why more women are not used as the lead protagonist in movies. It always seems to be the male superhero and the female damsel in distress.

Newsom also noted how there is always a certain way that men and women need to look in superhero movies. The men need to be large, muscular and good looking. Meanwhile, the women have to be sexy, young and beautiful. There is too much focus on how they look and not who they are.

Gadot will join Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the new Superman movie, where Wonder Woman and Batman are added to the mix. There is still plenty of time for more DC Comic superheroes to be added in, making it a true DC version of Marvel’s Avengers.

Why is there a title pic of Adrianne Palicki as wonder woman, when the article is introducing Gal Gadot, cast in the upcoming role??
