Ukraine: Obama Deeply Concerned by Russian Troops

ukrainePresident Obama held a press conference a few moments ago about NATO’s concern of Russian troops in the Ukraine. Obama said he is “deeply concerned” about Russian troop movements in Crimea and that any such military movements can be destabilizing to the Ukraine.

Obama says that the Ukrainian people have the right to determine their own future and that the US and European allies will be watching the Russian Federation closely. Obama urges Putin to start withdrawing his troops from the area. He also stated that there will be “costs” if the Ukraine is subject to military violations.

Obama says he and his administration will keep open channels of communication directly with the Russian Government. As Obama finished his press conference the airport in Crimea was closed to make way for several large Russian military planes.
