A Haunted House 2 reveals their new poster for the horror spoof comedy film starring Marlon Wayans as the returning character Malcolm. The film is a sequel to the surprise 2013 hit A Haunted House (not the most creative sequel title), featuring most of the same cast. Reprising their roles for the A Haunted House 2 sequel are Cedric the Entertainer as the not-so-holy Father Doug, Essence Atkins as Malcolm’s possessed girlfriend Kisha, and also Affion Crockett as Malcolm’s cousin from the hood, Ray-Ray. This time around new comers to the horror spoof comedy are Jaime Pressly from TV’s My Name is Earl and stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias. Open Road films which is the production company making the film has just released their new poster for the film.
The poster, like the movie is a spoof of the horror franchise film Insidious, which is only one of the many horror and super natural films that this film will take on. A Haunted House 2 picks up where the original left off, this time around Malcolm’s girlfriend Kisha is killed in an automobile accident. Malcolm then meets and begins a relationship with Megan, a mom of 2 kids, who he ends up moving in with. While in the new home bizarre and supernatural things begin to occur around the house and involving the 2 kids, and to top things off, Kisha is resurrected from beyond the grave (zombie or demon?) and moves across the street, ready to cause all kinds of supernatural ex-girlfriend havoc to the new couple.
Marlon Wayans has not only starred in A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2, but is also one of the screenwriters to both films. The spoof genre is one that Marlon Wayans is rather familiar with, his first feature film, which he also starred and co-wrote, was a spoof of the 90’s hood movies in the 1996 film Don’t be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (here they may have gone a bit overboard with the title). His next spoof follow up was also in the horror genre, with the 2000 film Scary Movie, which he again wrote and starred in as well. From then, Scary Movie turned into a franchise and came out with Scary Movie 2, Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4 in only a matter of 6 years.
No genre is left behind for the A Haunted House 2 star, in the 2009 film Dance Flick, Marlon Wayans spoofs the popular hip hop dance films such as the 2006 film Step-Up and the 2004 film You Got Served. Marlon Wayans first got a taste of the spoof genre from his show business family, his older brother Keenan Ivory Wayans starred, wrote and directed the 1988 film I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, a film that spoofed the Blaxploitation films of the 70’s. A few years later Marlon will join his brother Keenan again to write and act in the 1990 sketch TV show In Living Color, which pretty much was a spoof on everything. It would be an easy guess to say that A Haunted House 2 will not be the last of the franchise, lets all stay tuned for parts 3, 4, 5 and maybe even 6.
