United States Navy Seals seized a hijacked tanker in the Mediterranean Sea near the island of Cyprus on Monday morning.

They thwarted the efforts of a renegade Libyan militia to sell its oil.

No one was injured in the seizure.

The oil tanker was a North Korean flagged shipped named the Morning Glory.

The Pentagon has stated the Libyan and Cypriot governments had asked for American help in seizing the tanker. Navy Seals aboard the Navy destroyer USS Franklin took control of the tanker within hours of the request for assistance.
