It is rapidly approaching the anniversary of Cory Monteith’s death and its clear that Lea Michele is moving on from Monteith in the healthiest way possible. By living her life and pursuing her career. Lea is also refusing to live in the past although she is not afraid to talk about it or write about it.
That the 27 year-old Glee star could write her first autobiographical book, Brunette Ambition, over a time period that included her 31 year-old fiance’s death by a toxic mix of alcohol and heroin shows a degree of focus and professionalism that is beyond admirable.
Considering that the actress disappeared from public view after the news of Cory Monteith’s lonely Vancouver death in a hotel room reached airwaves, her dedication to her craft is stunning. Lea was devastated, ask anyone who was in her inner circle. She still managed to get back on track to begin working on the newest, slightly delayed, season of Glee.
Monteith’s death in real life, necessitated his character’s death in the high school musical television show. Cory’s TV counterpart was Michele’s boyfriend on the series so the absence of her love was twice as hard to deal with it. She did, however, cope during this incredibly tragic and stressful time in her life.
Lea did have a memorial for her late fella and despite the stress and strain she must have felt at losing Cory, she went on to ensure that Ryan Murphy’s TV creation would continue to be there for fans.
It is now 2014 and her new book, Brunette Ambition is coming out at the same time as her latest music video. It is clear that Lea Michele is moving on from Monteith, slowly but surely.
News today has been full of Lea’s castmates from Glee reportedly signing copies of her book. As well as confessions of dating another of her Glee colleagues before she dated Cory. her newest song, and its music video, are up on YouTube via Vevo. The track, On My Way, seems to be a title with a dual message.
One being that Michele is on her way to continuing her life after Glee, she has already started by voicing Dorothy in Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return and is rumored to be working on a sequel to Oz, called Wicked. The second message seems to be that the actress will now talk romance without mentioning Cory Monteith in the same breath.
Lea recently spoke of wanting to have kids “100 percent” on her Sirius XM interview where she was promoting her new book. The show, The Moms is hosted by Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein, and the ladies asked Lea about whether she wanted to be a “mom” one day.
Michele’s enthusiastic answer was yes. She did point out though that at 27 years-old, she was playing a 19 year-old on television so there was no real rush. Lea also took a moment to talk about her folks.
She mentioned that they were loving parents who were great to grow up around. Michele also took time on The Moms to speak of her father and how he taught her what a good man should be.
Lea Michele is moving on from Monteith. Continuing to move forward in her career and proving just how focussed she is on the future. Her book, Brunette Ambitions is available from booksellers now and her On My Way music video is on YouTube. It is also below for our reader’s viewing and listening pleasure.
