Much gossip has been brewing about the alleged romantic entanglements of pro dancer Maks Chmerkovskiy and Olympic gold medalist, ice dancer Meryl Davis, as well as if Maks might be the newest judge to grace the Dancing With the Stars panel of judges. It’s no wonder, when Maks and Meryl have taken part in so many romantic dances together, and have also spent time odd the dance floor doing other things, such as dining at posh restaurants.
While many members of the paparazzi have taken what looks like a duck and quacks like a duck to be a duck, and have drawn the conclusion that the Dancing With the Stars pair are also a “couple” off of the dance floor, according to a report in US Weekly that USAToday.com mentioned, the “romance” was just a part of selling their performance to the audience, “to create something where people believe that what you demonstrated was real.”
Having perfect technique will get you a long way when it comes to dancing, but another essential element is passion. The best pro and celebrity dancers on Dancing With the Stars are able to find the drive and passion within them, and make it come alive on the dance floor, just as Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy did. Their technique, drive, and passion took them all the way to the finals, when they became the season winners and each took home a Mirror Ball Trophy.
However, at least one person who is close to Maks — his own brother, who is another pro dancer on Dancing With the Stars, Val — has stated that he believes their is love between Meryl and Maks. According to Val, his brother “definitely loves” Meryl, and he has also stated that Meryl “loves him back.
Maks and Meryl were seen together in New York City at the posh restaurant, TAO Downtown. They weren’t there alone, though — fellow Dancing With the Stars pro dancers Val and Tony Dovolani were also there, so if there was any romance in the air, it was kept very low-key at the restaurant.
On her talk show, Wendy Williams asked Maks if he will return to the show as a judge next season, since Len Goodman announced his retirement during the finale episode of the series. Maks answered Wendy that it it would be unlikely that he would compete on Dancing With the Stars again, but he did suggest he would be open to being a judge.
Maks has been a guest judge when he took a year off from Dancing With the Stars to star in the Broadway production, “Forever Tango,” and otherwise get involved in acting. When he returned, Maks had a renewed drive to him, and a determination to win the Mirror Ball Trophy.
When Wendy Williams asked Maks, point blank, if he would take the job as a judge if it was offered to him, he told her “Yeah.”
There did seem to be chemistry between Maks and Meryl Davis on the dance floor, and off of it; but, despite some reports, there doesn’t seem to be any real evidence that the two are in love with each other, though they are very good friends. Maks might not be returning as a pro dancer for Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars, but — if the job of being a judge on the series is offered to him, we might see Maks in a different role next season.
