Cameron Jibril Thomaz, a.k.a.,Wiz Khalifa has been charges with possession of prohibited items and arrested at the El Paso Airport, on Sunday. The rapper who was arrested on Sunday morning, after a TSA officer frisked him, suspecting Wiz Khalifa of drug possession, eventually leading to his arrest. He was travelling from Dallas to El Paso after headlining the Neon Desert Music Festival on Saturday.
Gregory K. Allen, released a statement that detailed the events that led to the arrest. The TSA officer found Khalifa hiding a metal container in a backpack, which contained a prohibited item. Later upon testing, it was revealed that the item was 0.5 grams of weed. Wiz Khalifa was charged with a misdemeanor, possession of marijuana and was later transferred to a detention facility in El Paso. A bond of $300 was posted and it is reported he will be released later.
This incident is hardly the first time Khalifa has been arrested on drug charges. Khalifa had landed earlier in trouble when his proclaimed love for marijuana landed him in trouble. He was arrested earlier in November 2010 during his Waken Ball tour, on charges of possession of drugs and prohibited substances. Khalifa who is well-known for his love of drugs has never been secretive about it. He has been quoted in many interviews to spend over $10,000 on cannabis, a drug he seems to have developed a penchant for. Khalifa is not really worried about the incident though. He tweeted a picture later that day titled,” Jail selfie.” The Black and Yellow, rapper who is married to Amber Rose, and is very active on Twitter, kept his fans informed by live tweeting the whole incident. Khalifa also tweeted pictures from his jail stay, posting a photo of the cell door with a phrase that requested the police to free him. The scores of fans who follow him on Twitter, turned the phrase into a trending topic with #FreeTrapWiz. Khalifa also tweeted that he planned on dropping his new single, titled 28 Grams, later that day, but expressed his dismay at not being able to do so. His drug use was documented on Twitter, where on Saturday, he tweeted that he wanted to get high with himself. He was in El Paso on Saturday headlining a concert from where the tweet was sent out. Khalifa is currently married to model Amber Rose and has a son, Sebastian Taylor Thomaz, is a celebrated rapper, singer and songwriter.
While the court does not record an attorney, it is reported that no responses from Khalifa’s agency were reported on the issue. Ironically, Khalifa told a fan that his experience in the jail was good and thanked his fans for the early release. The rapper later tweeted a picture as he landed off his private plane to show his fans that their request on Twitter worked. After posting the bail, Wiz Khalifa tweeted an image that shows him beside his private plane, just a few hours after his arrest at El Paso International Airport on drug charges.
