Pop princess Ariana Grande is rumored to be dating rap superstar Big Sean, according to recent reports circulating the internet. The speculation began after the two were seen in each other’s company quite frequently in the past month.
Rumors began to fly after Grande split from her on-again-off-again boyfriend Jai Brooks, of the YouTube group the Janoskians, earlier this month. While the two had split and reconciled in the past, the recent breakup appeared to be for good, at least on the 21-year-old Problem hit-maker’s end. She gave an interview earlier this week in which she expressed her committment to moving forward in life and not looking back. She went on to voice her belief that she was almost 100 percent positive that one of her exes had cheated on her with another man, although she recently took to Twitter in order to shut down rumors that the man in question was recent ex Books. According to Grande, the event in question happened long before her relationship with Brooks. Upon confirmation of their break up, fans were left to wonder with whom the singer would next be in a relationship.
As if in answer to her fan’s prayers for gossip on a potential new hook up, Grande and Big Sean (real name Sean Anderson) were seen entering a movie theater together to watch the newest installment of the hit thriller film The Purge, which opened in late July. According to unconfirmed reports, the singer and her rumored new beau were in extremely close company during the showing, holding hands and kissing. While the two have been friends for years, these reports have sent fans scrambling in an attempt to find out whether or not this pairing is reality or simply wishing thinking.
Grande met the rapper several years ago, although their friendship did not begin to fully culminate until recently. Big Sean performed uncredited vocals on the singer’s number one hit Problem, on which up and coming Australian rapper Iggy Azalea was prominently featured. The two released their own collaboration earlier this week, entitled Big Mistake. Sources close to the Florida native state that she and Big Sean grew extremely close during the recording of their aforementioned collaboration, a closeness that did not cease upon completion of the single.
Grande earned her big break on the hit Nickelodeon show Victorious, which aired from 2010-2013. Following the completion of the series, she reprised her role as the ditzy but loveable Cat Valentine on producer Dan Schneider’s highly rated teen series Sam & Cat. Although the show was an enormous success, issues began to arise surrounding the broken friendship between the singer and fellow co-star Jennette McCurdy, who reprised her iCarly role as the tough but kindhearted bad girl Sam Puckett. Following the absence of McCurdy at the 2014 Kids Choice Awards, the show was put on hiatus for a month, after which the remainder of season one was aired and the show was officially cancelled. Upon question of both her no-show and the end of the series, McCurdy gave the reasoning that she felt she was put in a compromising and unfair position by Nickelodeon, and that she had to do what was best for her under the circumstances.
Big Sean has been climbing the Rap/R&B charts since 2011 with the release of his debut album Almost Famous. His second studio album, Hall of Fame, was released in the summer of 2013. He has won several awards, including a BET Award for Best New Artist in 2012, a 2013 Billboard Music Award for Top Rap Song, and several BET Hip Hop Awards.
Ariana Grande and Big Sean have yet to comment on their rumored new relationship. Many of their fans, however, continue to hope that a union between the two will become a reality.
