Revenge Season 4: New Faces, Old Grudges

Revenge is returning this fall, with some new faces and all old grudges. After a surprising announcement was made in June, when the creators of Revenge confirmed that James Tupper will return as a full-time series regular in Season 4, new reports are now suggesting that David Clarke will be the villain in the show. The creators are also adding two new cast members to the show.

Reportedly, Brian Hallisay will join the cast as Ben, the new local police officer in town. His character is described as fun-loving and easygoing and he will also be Jack’s new friend. Initially, it was reported that he will be Emily’s new love interest, but with Aiden’s death, Jack now has an opportunity to win Emily’s heart. The reports are also suggesting that Jack will be key in season 4, as he will help Emily to re-identify and redevelop her identity.

Another new cast member will be Elena Satine, who will play a young woman, named Louise. She is the black sheep daughter of a rich Southern family and she will be causing trouble when she finds herself in the Hamptons. Elena also plays sorceress Lorelei on Agents of SHIELD.

The season finale of Revenge was a huge cliffhanger, since many characters ended their journey in the show. Victoria killed Aiden and she is now locked up in a mental hospital by Emily’s doing. Conrad was stabbed by David Clarke, who then left him on the side of the road bleeding to death. Since Emily was avenging her father’s alleged death all this time, it will be interesting to see how she will react, when she realizes that everything she did was worthless, as the person she was taking revenge for returns.

Although Tupper appeared throughout all three seasons of Revenge, his appearances were only limited to flashbacks, as he was dead. Well, presumably dead. David’s surprising resurrection in the final scenes of Season 3 most definitely set the stage for an explosive reunion with his daughter Emily and his ex-love Victoria.

As the news of David’s comeback broke out, Revenge’s main-showrunner Sunil Nayar said that Emily and Victoria will both have to reckon all the things they did over the last 20 years in his name. Moreover, they will also have to reckon with David Clarke. Nayar said that it will be a lot of fun because for the first time, the viewers know something that no character in the show does. They know that David stabbed Conrad and they also witnessed what a raw act of vengeance it was.

New reports are suggesting that David could turn against his daughter Emily if Victoria gets to him first. David could then be manipulated by her, since Victoria knows how to take control in difficult situations and is good at taking advantage of vulnerable people.

Considering what the viewers saw in the finale of season 3, they can expect that David will eventually come back to the town and he is not going to be the David that the people in the Hamptons knew. He most certainly is not the wood carving man that Emily remembers him to be.

Revenge is coming back with season 4 on September 28, 2014.

Aiden being killed ruined the whole season for me. Don’t know how i like David being evil and going against his daughter. Very disappointed.

New characters at the beginning of a new season have never been good decisions in the “Revenge” universe…unless one of them will get rid of Charlotte.
