Rap mogul Suge Knight has been released from the hospital. He had previously been admitted to the hospital after he sustained gun shot injuries while attending Chris Brown’s pre-VMA party on Sunday, August 24th. He is said to be continuing to recover in the comfort of his own home.
Knight was one of the many members present at the party, which was being held at 10ak Nightclub in Las Vegas, when things went south and bullets began to fly. The California native took an astonishing five bullets to the stomach, and one to the arm. Doctors were reportedly only able to recover three of the bullets, as the rest went straight through his body. After the attack began, Knight took refuge behind a parked car, thus managing to avoid further potentially fatal injury.
Since the incident occurred, police have been investigating the likelihood that the shooting was gang related. There have also been reports that the gunman was aiming directly for the rap label founder, and not Chris Brown. Knight himself has alluded to the possibility that he knows the identity of the man who shot him, but is refusing to cooperate with authorities. When police visited him in the hospital, they were reportedly turned away several times based on the false information that the man was still heavily sedated and could not give a proper account of the night’s proceedings. Even after authorities were given the green light to question him, Knight reportedly acted disoriented during questioning, going as far to claim that he was not sure he even remembered getting shot. Sources close to the man say he is completely unwilling to drop the name of the person involved in the shooting, because he believes it to be ratting someone out, and this is not something he believes in doing. Witnesses to the shooting have acted in similar fashion, making the cooperation with police extremely minimal. The club in question had video surveillance of the shooting, but it may be almost impossible to make out the features of the gunman due to the unclear nature of the footage.
Knight, born Marion Hugh Knight, is the founder and co-founder of two extremely successful record labels, one of which he is the current CEO of. He is currently the head at Black Kapital Records, which has signed many a successful rap artist. He is also the former CEO to Death Row Records, which was created in 1991, and has signed some of the most successful rap and R&B artists in the world. These artists include but are not limited to Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mc Hammer, Nate Dogg, and Tupac Shakur. Knight has been the subject of a rumor that has been circulated since the death of the latter artist, with the speculation being that the rap mogul had possibly been involved in Shakur’s death. Shakur was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in 1996. Knight has adamantly maintained his innocence since the event, most recently giving his opinion that Shakur had faked his death and was still alive.
Suge Knight is expected to make a full recovery from the injuries he suffered after the shooting that occurred at 10ak Nightclub. However, he is still refusing to cooperate with the appropriate authorities in order to locate the person who instigated the shooting.
