‘Glee’: Matthew Morrison Ties the Knot in Hawaii

On Saturday, one of the best-known members of the cast of Glee tied the knot in Hawaii when Matthew Morrison, who plays William “Will” Schuester or Mr. Schue on the musical Fox series, got married to model Renee Puente. Puente had been his girlfriend for three years before they were wed in Kihei, Maui.

Matthew Morrison, 35, and Puente, 31, were married in front of a relatively small group of guests, family members and friends. There were only 50 guests and they were married on a private estate, according to UPI.com and other sources, like People and E! Online.

Always the showman, Morrison and Puente did a Hula dance for their guests and also sang a duet of Starry Eyed/Video Games by Laura Benanti. It was reportedly an elegant though intimate wedding.

Additional entertainment was provided by pianist Chad Whidden. As the bride walked down the aisle, soloist Kiley Dean sang the song the couple had chosen for the special occasion, Feels Like Home.

Last year, the Glee star and the love of his life became engaged. The news was announced onstage in London at the White Tie and Tiara Ball by none other than Elton John and his significant other, David Furnish.

At the time, Morrison was flying high with romantic feelings for his fiance, and tweeted that he was “going to marry my best friend.”

Matthew Morrison, according to E! Online, presented Renee Puente with a blue sapphire engagement ring. The happy couple had been dating for two years and had begun dating in 2011.

Puente’s wedding dress was reportedly ivory-colored and long-sleeved. It was a custom-made Gustavo Cadile designed wedding dress with a sheer lace overlay, according to People. Emmy London designed the bride’s shoes. The groom, Matthew Morrison, looked handsome, sporting a Brooks Brothers tuxedo and…a lei.

The wedding was planned by Kevin Covey Wedding and Events, according to the People article, and the catering for the big occasion was provided by Bev Gannon’s Celebrations Catering. There was even a dessert station there. The desserts included ones made up of the favorite family recipes of the couple.

Inviting Occasion provided the d├ęcor and floral arrangements for the wedding of Matthew Morrison and Renee Puente. Natalie Watson Photography and Watson Studios were the photographers for the wedding and Perryfield Films was the videographers as Morrison and Puente celebrated their wedding day in Hawaii.

The upcoming season of Glee will be, sadly for its fans, the final one. On the show, Matthew Morrison’s character, Mr. Shue, has had a marriage to his wife, Teri, fail after she has a hysterical pregnancy and has had a couple of love interests along the way — Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), who eventually becomes his wife, and Holly Holliday (Gwyneth Paltrow). Through it all, he has tried to guide his students to victory in many Glee Club competitions while attempting to thwart the efforts of Susan “Sue” Sylvester (Jane Lynch) to utterly destroy the Glee Club, which she despises.

Hopefully, the course of true love will run more smoothly for Matthew Morrison and Renee Puente in real life, following their romantic wedding in a place many people describe as being Paradise, Hawaii. Their nuptials occurred on Saturday in front of an intimate gathering of 50 guests on the island of Maui, Hawaii. The Guardian Liberty Voice wishes to congratulate the happy couple!
