A traffic stop in Hope Mills, North Carolina, ended with the police officer shooting the driver after he attempted to assault the officer with a metal baseball bat. The driver, Marcell D. Campbell, went on the attack with the bat after being pulled over. He persisted in his attack even after being tased by the officer, L. Munoz. Munoz shot Campbell, who then turned and fled in his vehicle, being apprehended shortly after. He is currently being treated for his injuries, none life-threatening. He will be charged with assault on a police officer as well as having no license.
