
Downgraded to a Tropical Storm with winds of 112 miles per hour, the former Typhoon V
ongfong reached the Island of Kyushu.
In Okinawa at least 37 people were injured, 150,000 people were evacuated. Train and air traffic were cancelled in Kyushu and Shikoku.
The typhoon struck at 8:30 a.m. local time Monday morning.
In India, Cyclone Hudhud made landfall on Sunday less than 100 miles from the city of Visakhapatnam. Eight people lost their lives, mostly from falling trees and collapsing walls.
