RHOA: Todd Tucker's Mom Sharon Died After Fatal Stroke

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Todd Tucker’s mother suffered a stroke on Monday and passed away Tuesday. Todd was home in Atlanta when he received a call that Sharon, his mother, has fallen ill in New York. Reportedly a friend discovered Miss Sharon who was then rushed to the hospital. She passed the following afternoon.

When Todd arrived to New York to check on his mother she was unconscious. Kandi was in Los Angeles when her husband rushed to check on his mother. Overnight Sharon slipped into a coma before she died the next day. Todd spoke about losing his mother on Instagram and said:

My heart hurts so much! Today I lost my partner, my ride or die, my best friend! I don’t know what to do? I’m lost! She was a fighter, a warrior for her son! It was me and her against the world! She’s in a better place!! Mom I love you to death! Rest in peace!

Miss Sharon was introduced to the Real Housewives of Atlanta viewers as her son and now daughter-in-law Kandi Burruss-Tucker were preparing for their wedding. Conversations between Todd and his mother revealed how close the two of them were. Todd’s father died when he was a toddler leaving Sharon to raise her son alone. As a result they developed a tight bond and spoke to each other on the phone every day.

Todd made a name for himself in Atlanta in the entertainment industry having worked on news programming, live and reality television, music videos and with the creation of Tucker Productions LLC, his own company. Kandi and Todd met while he was working for the production crew on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta. The couple met in 2011, announced their engagement in January 2013 and joined in marriage on April 4, 2014.

Kandi’s mother, Mama Joyce constantly stirred up trouble with her son-in-law and Sharon did not like it. She came to town for the wedding and let it be known that she was not going to tolerate Joyce’s disrespect of her son or herself. As a result, memorable spats were caught on camera between the couple’s parents.

Mama Joyce has given Kandi and Todd grief since the two began dating. She antagonized Todd, spread rumors about him, called his mother a whore and his deceased father a pimp. She dished out insults and started fights with Todd’s mother and Kandi’s friend Carmen. Mama Joyce has accused Todd of cheating with Carmen, her daughter’s best friend and even insulted the engagement ring that Kandi herself picked out. She has been a bully to anyone who did not view Todd as the enemy.

This is nothing new, since Kandi joined the RHOA cast her mother has always disapproved of her choice in men. Last season, however, she went over and above to display her disdain for Todd and try to stop the wedding. Lately, Mama Joyce has not been a positive influence on the show and has really caused many viewers to question her motives.

Todd, just like Kandi, has a daughter from a previous relationship. After the two wed, his daughter Kaela moved to Atlanta to live with her father and stepmother. On the day of the wedding Mama Joyce even threw out insults about Kaela and ignored her as she sat in the same room with her. This upset Kandi and she forced her mother to apologize to Kaela because as a child she had nothing to do with any feud she may have with Todd.

Sharon and Joyce may have had their issues but Kandi described her as a great mother-in-law. The two of them got along very well and had a great relationship. Many fans of the show, along with cast members, have left condolences to the newlyweds on social media. Sharon was not a regular on the Real Housewives of Atlanta but left her mark the few times she appeared. Her presence will be missed.
