Miley Cyrus has finally responded to the requests of the public to discuss the possibility of a Hannah Montana reunion, almost five years after the series ended. She recently sat down for an interview with Marc Malkin of E! Online, who was keen to bring up the heavily debated possibility of the show getting some kind of reprieve after all this time.
The host introduced the topic in question while the pair were talking about wearing wigs, which the 22-year-old was expressing her wish to don on a regular basis due to the practicality of it being so easy to pull off a hairstyle as a result. Malkin then asked the singer if she ever chose to break out one of her old Hannah Montana wigs, which she spent four years wearing in order to play the aforementioned main character’s role of the secret superstar she was. Cyrus replied that, unfortunately, production did not allow her to keep any of the blond pieces in question following the wrapping up of the Disney series. She then joked that the wig in question was probably now located on a wax figure of herself somewhere in the world, and that she was going to break into the companies archives in order to retrieve it as it is most definitely of higher quality than the aforementioned wigs she owns personally.
Malkin then segues into the hot topic at hand, flat-out asking Cyrus if she would ever do a reunion. The Wrecking Ball singer is hesitant to respond at first, saying that she is unsure and that the possibility would only be open for discussion if one aspect of the series was different. Cyrus then explains that she might be interested in rebooting the show if the main character had an alter-ego herself, in that she was actually a regular girl pretending to a pop star versus the other way around. In response to the host’s expressing of his opinion that the idea would be fun and that many people would be excited to see it, the Wrecking Ball singer says that people want to see a lot of things that she cannot do for them on television anymore. She did not elaborate as to what this statement was in reference to.
This past Wednesday, Cyrus took to Instagram to share a composite photograph of herself back in her Hannah Montana days along with a selfie she took just recently. The caption detailed, reportedly ironically, her shock at how drastically she has changed in her appearance overall. The upload kickstarted the usual stream of distressed former fans begging for the “old Miley” back, but one commenter was less willing to jump on the bandwagon of individuals attacking the singer’s appearance and decision to change the direction her life by leaving the show. The poster shared their opinion that no one seemed to realize how much happier Cyrus looked in her newer picture, a viewpoint which was greatly appreciated by the singer who took a screen-shot of the comment and proceeded to share it on her personal account as well.
It remains to be seen whether Hannah Montana will be rebooted at some point in the future. Miley Cyrus, however, remains open to the possibility provided that the aforementioned key plot point in the series is reversed to reflect her own personality.
