Oregon Highway Closed After Deadly Crash


The Oregon Department of Transportation has announced that Highway 38 has been completely closed west of Elkton due to a deadly car crash. Traffic in both directions has been stopped between Elkton and Scottsburg, and there is no timetable for it to reopen. Travellers have been told that the delays to expect could be between 20 minutes and two hours. People are being strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.

The accident took place approximately eight miles west of Elkton, and involved two vehicles. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and another was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two other people sustained injuries as well, but there has been no report on the severity of their conditions. Oregon police have not made any report yet about the cause or circumstances of the accident. An investigation is ongoing as they attempt to clear the scene in order to restore normal travel in the area.
