Usher Gives Marriage Another Shot

R&B superstar Usher Raymond is ready to give marriage another chance. He and his longtime girlfriend and business partner, Grace Miguel, are engaged. The couple has dated since 2009 and is ready to make their union official.

Initially the entertainer and his fiancée kept their personal relationship quiet. This will be the second marriage for Usher and the first for Grace. The Confessions singer married his ex-wife, Tameka Foster, in 2007 and was separated by 2009. Tameka and Usher have two sons, Naviyd Ely and Usher Raymond V. He calls that union his best mistake.

The Grammy Award winning singer and his ex went through a tumultuous divorce. However, he said some mistakes are just meant to be. Usher got married the first time at 28. The couple got engaged after dating for a little over a year. They were married just months later.

It is no secret that there were a host of people against that union from the onset. Usher said there were also people who were for their marriage. When trying to make the union work the couple employed their friends to help, tried counseling and other things but none of it worked. The singer said neither one of them were ready for the pressures that come with being a Hollywood couple.

Many speculated Usher to have fired his “momager,” Jonetta, as a result of her distaste for their union. She had been her son’s manager since the start of his career. Jonetta felt the OMG singer was not ready for marriage and Tameka was too old and “experienced” to be his wife. The performer maintained his reason for firing his mother was to allow her to shift into the role of a grandmother, but the change had nothing to do with her boycotting his wedding.

The Papers singer said he is sure many people feel he regrets getting married because the union resulted in divorce. According to Usher, this is not the case. The marriage helped him realize at times he thinks he knows more than he actually does. There were lessons learned that will undoubtedly make him a better husband next go round.

Usher and Tameka went through a long and ugly custody battle which resulted in the songwriter retaining custody of the couple’s sons. Tameka believes her former husband’s superstar status afforded him custody privileges. The Here I Stand singer said his sons have always been his first priority and will continue to come first. He works hard to be the best father possible even though he did not have the presence of his own father growing up. The producer has adjusted his studio and touring schedule so that he is home more and available for his sons.

The artist has moved on from his ex and is ready to tie the knot again. He and Grace were trying to keep the engagement on the low but she has been spotted recently wearing a huge rock. When speaking of his new bride-to-be Usher said:

She has helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life and career. She is someone who has been able to understand and support all of who I am; not just a performer, dancer or singer but as a business man, person and humanitarian.

The Love in This Club singer seems to love the older women. Grace has been referred to as his cougar boo “grandma” girlfriend. She is the co-founder of Coup D’Etat which is the managing team behind the singer. Grace is the branding and marketing force behind the musical powerhouse known as Usher Raymond IV.

Usher is ready to take things deeper than just the label girlfriend and business partner. He wants to make the relationship official by making her his wife. Grace and her daughter will soon join Usher and his two sons as one happy family.
