Boehner Fundraising Totals $5.4 Million in First-Quarter

Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) has raised over $5.4 million in the first financial quarter of 2015. This three-month massive capital gain shows that he is the central point of fundraising among Republican congressmen. Around $906,000 was raised in his re-election committee, Friends of John Boehner. Another funding committee, Boehner for Speaker, $4.28 million has been raised. His leadership political action committee, Project Freedom, had accepted multiple large single sums of money which is now totaled at $301,000.

According to one of the speaker’s aides, he sent $2.6 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee. Kara Hauck, a spokeswoman for Boehner’s fundraising efforts, stated the speaker and his fundraising committees are working fastidiously to build a stable foundation on which more Republican lawmakers can remain in their respective positions of power, and to elect more conservatives to the legislature. “We’re just getting started,” she said.

It is the time of the season for political fundraising committees to report first-quarter amounts. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) has brought in around $1.5 million, while House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has raised $3.5 million, according to their congressional aides.
