Caitlyn Jenner could potentially be joining the cast of Dancing With the Stars season 21, as reports suggest the former athlete has been interested in joining the show for years. Jenner, who stunned the world with her Vanity Fair magazine cover on June 1st, is receiving a lot of offers since her big revelation, but joining the ABC program could be her first big sign-on.
The 65-year-old, who is looking at an estimated $40 million income this year alone, could potentially make one of her first big televised appearances on a competition show where she would compete against a handful of D-list celebrities for the ballroom trophy. Of course, with the TV-personality supposedly considering the idea of making her dancing debut, network bosses would see this as a huge win for them, knowing that Jenner would draw in serious ratings for the show.
ABC has already seen what Jenner can do for their network after having aired her infamous Diane Sawyer interview, which was watched by 18 million people. Meanwhile, a follow-up special on E! drew in a further 3 million viewers for two consecutive weeks, meaning that there is a strong interest for everything about Jenner as of now. So, why not milk the cow as long as it is able to produce the consumer’s needs?
Jenner has been very vocal about wanting to spread more awareness for the transgender community, having stressed that most of her time will be devoted to help those who have struggled the way she has with her true identity. Dancing With the Stars may be a great platform to bring the spotlight back on those yesteryear celebrities, who the public have long forgotten. Furthermore, it helps them form a connection with viewers, which will hopefully have them pick up the phone and vote for their favorite contestant. Jenner joining Dancing With the Stars season 21 would could potentially even see the transgender icon win the competition, depending on how well she performs.
It is unlikely that she would want to sign up for season 21 simply for the money, having already learned that the 65-year-old beauty could potentially make up to $450 million in the next five years. Her announcement of transforming into a woman has taken the world by storm, with many campaigns already wanting Jenner as their spokesperson, willing to spend up to $100,000 for each motivational talk that the reality star partakes in. The program would more or less be considered as a treat for her since the entire Kardashian/Jenner household are huge fans of the show.
Both Kim Kardashian and Rob Kardashian have made their appearances on the program. While the 34-year-old Kardashian only managed to last for a couple of episodes, her brother went on to land the runner-up prize following stiff competition from J.R Martinez. While the Kardashians lack in talent, their dance moves are rather impressive on the dance floor — with that being said, perhaps this will give Jenner the courage to go out and try out something new.
Dancing With the Stars may not be an ideal place to spread awareness about the transgender community, but in terms of publicity, the show will continue to do wonders for the TV-personality, who has grown to love the attention she is getting. With it being alleged that Jenner may sign on to join Dancing With the Stars season 21, the ex-husband to Kris Jenner is also gearing up for her forthcoming E! reality show, I Am Cait. Ratings are already expected to shoot through the roof once it airs.
