Hewlett-Packard Split Confirmed by CEO at HP Discover 2015

News has just been received that the split of Hewlett-Packard, the second biggest personal computer maker in the world, has been confirmed by the company’s CEO at the event, HP Discover 2015. Meg Whitman, CEO, Hewlett-Packard Co., said that the separation of the company will be effective from November 1, 2015.

The announcement was made by Whitman during HP Discover 2015, the company’s technology event held in Las Vegas on Tuesday, June 2. Hewlett-Packard Co. will be split into two different companies, and will be listed as Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and HP Inc. HP had signalled in the month of October 2014, that talks were on about splitting the company. This will separate the company’s fast-growing corporate services and hardware operations from its computer and printer businesses.

Some information on the functioning of the two publicly listed companies has been shared on HP’s website. It states that HP Inc. will be focusing on delivering innovations in personal computers and printers. On the other hand, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise will work towards defining the future generation of software, technology infrastructure, and services for the new developments and trends in the field of information technology. The company will continue to build upon HP’s present position as a world leader in storage, servers, converged systems, services, software, networking, and its cloud platform named OpenStack. More developments and updates are awaited including market response to this news.
