Ex-NBA star and reality television personality, Lamar Odom, is currently on life support after having been found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, at which he had stayed the previous four days. Ex-wife Khloe Kardashian is with him now. Because he does have a history of drug abuse and depression, investigators are looking for evidence of drugs in his system.
Odom, 35, a former L.A. Laker who married into the Kardashian family, was found face down at Nevada’s Love Ranch on the afternoon of Oct. 13, according to brothel owner, Dennis Hof. The hospital is not releasing any information on Odom’s condition, other than to say that as of Oct. 14, he is on life support.
Reverend Jesse Jackson visited Odom and said doctors seem hopeful that he is recovering. Jackson said that there had been some response from the former L.A. Laker today. Jackson said that Kobe Bryant, childhood friends, and the Kardashian family have been by his side. Even though he is on life support now, Jackson said that they are holding hands and praying he will bounce back.
Sources report that when Odom was found, he began to vomit heavily. The 9-1-1 operator told Hof to turn him on his side so he would not choke.
Police are investigating a possible drug or alcohol overdose, although Hof said he did not see him take any illegal drugs. The former Laker told employees that he was there to relax in private. He did predominately keep to himself and, on Monday, he was left alone in his room at his request.
Odom did drink and took some herbal sexual enhancement pills, according to Hof. He was found by two of Hof’s girls on the afternoon of Oct. 13. He was transported via bus 65 miles to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center because, at 6 feet 10 inches, he was too tall for the helicopter.
