North Las Vegas Witnesses Casualty in Fatal Officer Involved Shootout [Updated]

North Las Vegas witnessed a casualty on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at 5:38 a.m. PDT, as a result of a fatal officer-involved shootout, as reported by Fox5Vegas. The incident took place at the Silver Nugget Casino, which is located near North Las Vegas Blvd. and Lake Mead Blvd.

Ann Cavaricci, an officer with the North Las Vegas Police Department, reported the shootout occurred in response to the call of a physical assault that resulted in the death of one man. When the officers arrived a shoot-out took place.

As a result, a man was shot in the police encounter and was wounded by the police. He was immediately rushed to Las Vegas University Medical Center in critical condition, and succumbed to his injuries and died during treatment.

The police department reported that the officers involved in the incident were not hurt.

Apart from suggesting that the ensuing confrontation was only triggered by the call the North Las Vegas Police Department have not released further information.

UPDATE: According to a report filed at 10:45 a.m. by the “Las Vegas Sun,” another man was discovered dead in an employee area.
