Shooting at Lawndale California Best Western Parking Lot



According to the Redondo Beach Patch, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, a civilian and an officer were injured when shots were exchanged in a Best Western parking lot in Lawndale, Calif. The shooting occurred at the Best Western located on the corner of Hawthorne Boulevard and Marine Avenue, before 10 a.m PST.

The county’s fire department reported that the paramedics received the call at 9:45 a.m. and once they arrived at the scene, transported one of the victims of the shooting to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Images of the scene depicted the two vehicles bumper to bumper. The victim was driving a black GMC Yukon.

The police car’s windshield had at least one bullet hole. The victim’s windshield had several bullet holes. The Redondo Beach Police Department claimed they were uncertain if there was another person of interest involved that was held up inside the Best Western. The hotel was evacuated due to the shooting.

Sections of Hawthorne and Marine were closed for some time after the incident. There was no mention as to what led to the two vehicles converging hood to hood in the Best Western parking lot. The Police Department has not released any other information at this time.

This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
