Two-time Emmy Award winner Bob Einstein of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm He was 76. Recently, he was diagnosed with Cancer.
Einstein got his start on the ‘Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour’ in 1967. Prior to that, he was on the Sonny and Cher Comedy hour with Steve Martin, Carl Gottlieb, and Rob Reiner.
Einstein once told a story about how he got stored on the ‘Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.’ He stated that he was just a kid. Tommy Smothers told him he was going to put a group of people together with a Knott’s Berry Farm comedian who happened to be Steve Martin. They lived in the same building for a few years. Einstein also recalled that Martin influenced him and his comedy.
In response, Martin stated that meeting Einstein changed his career. They spent 24 hours a day talking about ideas and bits. They became a writing team that was solid.
Einstein started his career writing for a tv variety shows and is best remembered for creating the character of Super Dave Osborn who was a satirical Stuntman, which was created by his brother actor and comedian Albert Brooks.
Tributes came in on Twitter to pay homage to Bob Einstein from his family and co-workers of’ ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’
Brooks said on Twitter Wednesday R.I.P my brother Bob Epstein. A great brother, husband, and father. You were brilliantly funny. Forever I will miss you.
Einstein’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ co-star Richard Lewis said he was shocked at his passing and stated that he knew him forever. His career was so long and will be hard to match it. His role on Curb was brilliant. Our crew and cast are devastated. He was loved so much. He said to me that he loved Curb and LD.
David Mandel “Curb Your Enthusiasm” writer tweeted that he was sad and he never heard that he had an illness.
His most recent role was on “Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘Arrested Development’ on Netflix.
On Larry David’s HBO’s comedy “Curb Your Enthusiasm” he played the character of since the show’s fourth season.
‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ is currently in production on its forthcoming 10th season. HBO has not released a statement regarding the direction the show will go in since the untimely death of Bob Einstein who was 76-years-old.
