By now, almost everyone in Chicago has seen the docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly. Well, okay, perhaps not everyone, but for sure, everyone has heard of series and almost no one has anything good to day about Kelly’s alleged predator type pursuit of underaged African-American girls. I mean, Kelly is no joke. And I don’t mean that in a good way. If you let Dame Dash tell it, the man’s behavior around underage teenage girls coupled with Jay-Z’s collaboration with Kelly on a music project was not only a non start, it was unforgivable.
If you don’t know who Dame Dash is, he co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records with Jay-Z, and Kareem “Biggs” Burke. According to Dash, the Roc-a-fella collaboration with Kelly challenged his morality. Dash had every reason to be bitter and even outraged when it came to Kelly. After all, Dash had developed a disdain for Kelly’s unforgiving conduct after the late R&B pop star, Aaliyah, intimated to him that “That dude’s a bad man.”
After that, Dash wanted nothing to do with the pied piper predator. You see, Dash and Aaliyah were an item before that fateful plane crash that took the 22-year-old pop star’s life. Though he admits that Aaliyah was often reticent when it came to discussing her relationship with Kelly, one could gather that he knew she had been damaged by the relationship.
Recently, the online news and information website, Bloglovin.com highlighted Dash’s most recent interview on the subject of R. Kelly. In the interview, Dame recalled Jay-Z’s collaboration with Kelly. The report titled Dame Dash Talks Jay-Z, Aaliyah and R. Kelly provides some intimate details about Dash’s split with Jay-Z and why he found the Kelly / Jay collaboration unforgivable. He stated:
The thing I didn’t understand is, I was like, I know I’m not [[email protected]&n] with that. And because of the moral challenge and him choosing one way, I know, morally, we weren’t the same,… So, to me, Roc-a-Fella was defunct. It was over. I couldn’t [[email protected]#] with it. It was something that, to me–I don’t wanna say ‘unforgivable,’ but I couldn’t understand it.
Thus, according to Dane, Kelly’s presence was too much to take and eventually caused the split between him and Jay-Z.
