FramptonIn an interview with “CBS This Morning” on Feb. 23, 2019, 68-year-old Peter Frampton revealed that he suffers from Inclusion-Body Myositis (IBM), which is a rare degenerative muscular disease. Due to his diagnosis, he will retire after his next tour.

Frampton told “CBS This Morning” he wants to play as much guitar as he can before he will no longer be able to perform.

The musician said:

IBM is a progressive disease. Eventually, it will affect the finger flexors. So for a guitar player, it’s not good. I can play fine right now, but in a year, maybe not. I am a perfectionist, and I do not want to go out there and feel like ‘This is not good.’ That would be a nightmare.”

Frampton’s last tour will start in June 2018 and end on Oct. 12. Frampton told the news show he has been recording new material and has 33 tracks completed. Adding, he needs to get and much done now as possible for obvious reasons.

Frampton fell onstage three and a half years ago and was diagnosed with IBM. There is no cure for the disease. Frampton is enrolled in a clinical trial at John Hopkins University. Frampton will donate one dollar from every sold ticket to his tour to the Peter Frampton Myositis Research Fund established with John Hopkins University.
